All of these areas are crucial in the development and success of readers. We will use the next two weeks of instruction to celebrate our ABC Countdown and our year in Kindergarten. Today you will practice writing phrases that have words with the long u sound. Families - one at at time, read the following phrases and have you learner try to write each word. Note - a phrase is not a sentence so no capitals or ending punctuation marks are needed.
Long u, with Magic e Our new sound this week is the long u sound. Remember long vowels say their name so the long u says /uuuuuuu/. When there is a u in the middle of a word and an e at the end, the magic e makes the u say its name, like in the word cute. Practice saying these long u words:
